Cross Country Skiing
The Algoma Region can boast some of the finest Nordic skiing terrain, track and facilities in the world. With thousands of kilometers of trails, cross country skiing in Algoma is an adventure like no other. Back country trails lead adventurous skiers through snowy remote valleys where the silence is broken by the muffled rush of mountain streams. Meticulously groomed well-marked trails offer experiences for novice and experienced Nordic skiers of all ages, great for couples, groups of friends and families.
Stokely Creek Ski Lodge has 120 km (72 mi) of uninterrupted cross country ski trails that take you through the Algoma Highlands and up to King Mountain. Hiawatha Highlands is home to 40 years of cross country skiing experience, tradition and 40 km (24 mi) of trails. At Searchmont Resort, enjoy over 50 km (32 mi) of groomed trails.
Wilderness cross country skiing trails can also be in Elliot Lake, St. Joseph Island, Wawa and White River.
