Top Ten Driving Tour in Canada- Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa
The following sample itinerary has everything you will need to plan a motorcycle touring trip with accommodations, attractions and directions.
Day 1: Thessalon & the Mississagi Valley (314 km / 196 mi )
Depart Sault Ste. Marie east on Highway 17 to Thessalon. This touring route features rolling farmland, with views of Lake Huron. Turn north onto Highway 129, stop at Aubrey Falls Restaurant and Lodging for lunch and fuel. Continue on Highway 101 to Chapleau, enjoy a delicious dinner at Aux Trois Moulins Riverside Motel and Restaurant, stay one night at Valentine Farms Bed and Breakfast.
Day 2: Explore Chapleau (140 km / 87 mi)
Visit the Chapleau Centennial Museum or visit the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve, the world’s largest crown game preserve. Have lunch in Chapleau, depart for Wawa on Highway 101 west and check into the Beaver Motel, which offers free washing facilities for motorcycles. Dine at the Fireside Dining Room.
Day 3: Wawa Goose and Waterfalls
Explore Wawa’s natural beauty and attractions: visit the famous Wawa Goose the most photographed landmark in North America and visit the Sandy Beach Pavilion located on Michipicoten First Nation.The final stop is the Magpie Voyageur Trail which leads visitors to Scenic High Falls, a great place to a have a picnic lunch! Spend your last night in Wawa.
Day 4: Lake Superior Coastline (228 km / 142 mi)
Depart at the junction of Highway 17 traveling south to Sault Ste. Marie. This route offers dizzying heights, rugged rock faces and spectacular views of the Lake Superior coastline. Leg stretch at Katherine’s Cove to explore the coastline. Visit the Agawa Pictographs and stop at Agawa Indian Crafts and the Canadian Carver for fuel and souvenirs.
Have lunch at the Voyageur’s Lodge and Cookhouse at Batchawana Bay and stay the final night the Canadian Motor Hotel in Sault Ste. Marie.
Day 5: End of the Journey
Head for home!
