The Canada Store

Located in the “Mackinaw Crossings” outdoor mall in Mackinaw City, Michigan, the Algoma Region's Canada Store has been welcoming visitors since June 1999. For over 10 years, the Canada Store has been providing travelers to Canada with tourism and border crossing information for visiting Algoma. This interactive Canadian Vacation tourist information centre offers maps, brochures, travel guides, internet and direct-dial phones to make reservations quickly and easily.

Upon entering the Canada Store, visitors will be welcomed by Mortimor the Moose - a 7 foot tall moose dressed appropriately in a Canadian Mountie uniform. Murphy the Muskie, a replica of the largest muskie caught in Northern Ontario waters, is mounted on the wall. Guests to our Canada Store can find the finest in "CANADIANA" souvenirs and goods: clothing apparel, maple syrup products, keepsakes and treasures. In April 2007, we welcomed our 1,000,000 visitor!

Set in the Straits of Mackinac in Northern Michigan, Mackinaw City is a quaint tourist destination village. Its history dates back to First Nations people frequenting the area to fish, hunt, trade and worship. The first European settlement was 1715 with the construction of Fort Michilimackinac. There are many indoor and outdoor activities for visitors in this community from state parks, historical sites, museums, fishing, hunting, excursions to Mackinac Island and more!
