From the rugged coast of Lake Superior, this park moves inland over mist-shrouded hills and deep canyons. The park’s breathtaking beauty turns to rich autumn colours – experience what inspired Canada’s Group of Seven to paint here over a century ago. Explore Algoma’s landscape by hiking any of the 11 trails ranging from 1 hour to 7days. These trails vary, ranging from scenic vistas requiring steep climbs to gentle terrains along riverbeds and lakeshores. Take the park’s most challenging and demanding trail: the Coastal Trail. This trail hugs the lake’s rugged rocky coast through the park, offering spectacular, unimpeded views of the legendary blue waters.
Along the eastern border of the park, Algoma Central Railway winds through the Agawa Canyon, thrilling sightseers and dropping off hiking and canoeing adventurers along the rail line. Canoeist will be challenged by the 7 canoe routes ranging from 1 to 5 days. At Agawa Bay, hike to the Agawa Rock Pictographs, one of the largest collection of pictographs in Ontario.
The park has 3 main campgrounds: Agawa Bay Campground, Crescent Lake Campground and Rabbit Blanket Lake Campground, and backcountry campsites.
During the winter, the park is gated but accessible for skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing. Snowmobiling is prohibited.
