The rapids of the St. Marys River are a mecca for fly fishers. The river is home to Atlantic and a range of Pacific Salmon that will readily come to a fly or lure. The salmon runs begin in July and go right into October each year. Best of all, you can stay at a local hotel in downtown Sault Ste. Marie and easily walk down to the river. For spey anglers, the St. Marys River is perfect for this type of fly fishing. There are experienced guides in the region who can help you select the best time to visit for the species you want.

- The rapids are accessed from the Sault Ste. Marie Canal. The Parks Canada website has great information on this urban fishing experience.
