Cities & Towns
Algoma is the smallest region in Northern Ontario but still spans 28,000 square miles. To the east we start at Spanish, Ontario and follow the coast line of Lake Huron to Sault Ste. Marie. From the “Soo” we go west to White River, north to Nakina and Hearst then south to Chapleau and Elliot Lake then back to Spanish. Bordered by two of the greatest Great Lakes, Huron and Superior, our location is dotted with cities & towns as unique as our geography.
Location, location, location! is what we talk about no matter which community you visit. Each community is brimming with things to do, places to go, shops, fantastic accommodations and great places to eat. Whether you are here for business or pleasure, a weekend getaway or longer you can take an urban break for a spa pampering, an evening of theatre, shopping, sporting events, wonderful dining experiences and get up close to nature all in the same vacation.
Our cities & towns are linked by scenic highway routes like the world renowned Wawa to Sault Ste. Marie, known as one of the Top Ten Drives in all of Canada. Algoma’s Deer Trail Touring Route allows you an abundance of opportunities for wildlife viewing. For more touring ideas visit our touring page. Home to must see attractions including the famous Agawa Canyon Tour Train, our cities & towns are filled with museums, galleries and fun events. Take a selfie with some of the best and even quirkiest road side attractions. It’s photographic bragging rights for sure! And be sure to speak with our friendly locals as they are local experts on the area.
Visit our communities to truly enjoy real Northern hospitality in locations that will take your breath away. Always remember that in Algoma, a little star gazing is always close by.
