Algoma Country possesses some incredible northern pike fishing. With literally thousands of lakes and rivers with outstanding northern pike fishing, our region is where you want to go! Best of all, there are lots of waters to fish without crowds or other boats. The pike in Algoma are big and there are lots of them. Trophy sizes range from 35 inches to nearly 50 inches with fish in excess of 25 – 30 pounds caught. These are truly big fish that fight well and are super aggressive. Peak times for fishing northern pike are spring, early summer and fall.

For fly fishers, northern pike here will readily hammer large streamer flies and topwater poppers. Recommended rod weights are 9 or 10 matched to good quality reels with solid drag systems. Floating lines will serve most of your needs but bring a sinking line matched to a steel leader to cover all parts of the water column. Algoma has exceptional fishing for pike through their numerous lodges, outfitters and fly shops from May through to September.
