Chapleau is known as the gateway to the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve. The Preserve is an area of more than 700,000 hectares, home to wildlife viewing stations and drive-in tourism opportunities.

The area is served by numerous camps, lodges and campgrounds. Our district contains four provincial parks with camping facilities. Ontario’s finest wilderness is at our doorstep we offer some of the best fishing, hunting, canoeing and boating.

Chapleau was crowned Canada’s Ultimate Fishing Town in 2011 by the World Fishing Network. Chapleau has a wide variety of fish species to choose from: northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, whitefish, yellow perch and trout. Our hundreds of lakes and rivers can accommodate your preferences if you’re an extreme or inexperienced angler.
