Searchmont
Searchmont is a small community nestled in the Goulais River Valley about an hour northeast of Sault Ste. Marie. In the winter months, the village is known as a busy ski resort destination as it is home to Searchmont Resort. The resort is the largest of its kind in the region with a vertical drop of 700 feet on 100 acres of carvable terrain. For snowmobilers, Searchmont connects sledders to the main D trail which takes them north to Wawa and connects to Chapleau.
In the spring, summer and fall Searchmont transforms into a beautiful woodland paradise for many outdoor experiences. Activities in the area are ATV touring, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking the Goulais River. The area has excellent fishing for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass and brook trout. For black bear hunters, local outfitting is available. The area is a must-do fall colour tour as the trees turn turbulent shades of gold, red and orange. This is a community with the amenities you need for a true outdoor adventure in nature.
There are different types of accommodations such as cottages, lodge rooms, camping, chalets and bed & breakfast options. This truly is a must-do place for your next wilderness vacation.
