Places to Stay Near Lake Superior Provincial Park

It’s no secret that Algoma’s largest provincial park, Lake Superior Provincial Park, is a must-stop for any travellers passing through. The park itself provides numerous hiking trails, campgrounds, canoe routes and of course, scenic vistas. We realize that not everyone is comfortable camping or even backcountry camping. If you’re looking to enjoy the park for a few days or a week, there are accommodations outside the park located North and South. Some accommodations offer motel rooms or even cabins.

Batchawana Bay

Superior’s coastline is made of rugged rocky cliffs, pristine wilderness and beautiful sandy beaches. Batchawana was once an important fishing site for the Ojibwe (and still is today) and then the North West Company. The Hudson’s Bay Company had an outpost and fishing station at the mouth of the Batchawana River. Wawa

Wawa is the hub for vacationers. It’s best known for the famous Canada Goose Monument welcoming travellers on Trans-Canada Hwy 17 and Hwy 101. The Goose marks the opening of the last link of the Lake Superior section of Hwy 17 more than 50 years ago. It’s a destination for paddlers, hikers, fishermen, and snowmobilers.
