The African Caribbean Canadian Association of Northern Ontario(ACCANO) is pleased to invite you to our 2026 Annual Black History Celebration.

ACCANO was formed in 2011 as a non-profit, non-political, and non-denominational, volunteer-led organization. Our vision is to foster and leave a legacy of our cultural heritage by contributing to the economic, social and civic development of Canadian society through active and equitable integration of our members.

Our annual event is held in honour of Black History Month and is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians as well as share the history and culture of Black members who make up our diverse community

ACCANO strives to create opportunities that foster meaningful and intentional relationships across communities in Northern Ontario, with the goal of cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

This year’s theme is “Legacy in Motion: Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future.” We celebrate the enduring achievements and contributions of Black people, past and present, that continue to enrich and diversify communities across the world while inspiring the generations to come.
