We have a lot of stories to tell. The museums & galleries in Algoma Country capture our area’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Our region’s communities have museums, galleries, or interpretive signs and artwork depicting and celebrating these stories.
The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre: this award-winning, hands-on and interactive museum tells the story of the bushplane and it’s important history in the North.
Learn the area’s history and heritage through interesting, sometimes quirky, artifacts at the museums in Sault Ste. Marie, St. Joseph Island, or Bruce Mines.
Visit galleries to see, admire, celebrate and experience the world around you. Our art galleries house collections of work by renowned artists, as well as talented local and regional artists. Many galleries host rotating exhibits, art shows and tours, and workshops and lessons throughout the year.
The Art Gallery of Algoma is home to more than 4,000 works of art, including its permanent collection of Group of Seven artwork.
